RGB: three color channels
RGB tape uses red, green, and blue emitters. By mixing them, the controller can create many colors and an approximate white. That mixed white is useful for effects but is usually not the best choice when high-quality white illumination is important.
For conventional constant-voltage tape, RGB typically requires three controlled channels plus a common conductor, with the exact common-positive/common-negative arrangement determined by the product and controller.
RGBW: color plus a real white emitter
RGBW adds a dedicated white LED channel. The white may be a fixed warm, neutral, or cool color temperature depending on the tape. This is often a good compromise for coves, hospitality, display, and architectural accent lighting where both saturated color and credible white light are desired.
An analog RGBW decoder normally uses four output channels. Check both total controller current and the rating of each individual channel.
RGB+CCT / RGBCCT: color plus tunable white
RGB+CCT adds two white channels, commonly warm white and cool white. Varying their relative level adjusts the apparent white color temperature while RGB remains available for color effects.
Analog products generally require five controlled channels: red, green, blue, warm white, and cool white.
Which one should you use?

White quality is not defined by the letters alone
Two RGBW tapes can produce very different white light. Check color temperature, CRI/TM-30 data when available, output, binning, efficacy, and thermal performance. A dedicated white channel is not automatically high quality.
Addressable versions are different
Addressable RGB and RGBW products still consume color data per pixel, but the wiring is data-based rather than one power output channel per color for the whole strip. An RGB pixel generally consumes three data channels; an RGBW pixel generally consumes four. The pixel controller then converts network/DMX data into the tape's IC protocol.
Power calculations
Do not assume RGBW or RGB+CCT always draws exactly 4/3 or 5/3 as much as RGB. Some controllers limit simultaneous channel output, and tape manufacturers may rate products using different test conditions. Use the tape's maximum specified W/m value in the calculator.
